In 1978, Gary Adams took out a $24,000 loan against his house and founded TaylorMade Golf in McHenry, Illinois. The next year, the upstart business offered a single product, a 12* TaylorMade driver cast of stainless steel, whose development was driven by Adams’ contention that two-piece golf balls performed better off irons than woods, making them the first company to ever release a metal wood. In 1981, TaylorMade Golf sales reached $1.2 million. In 2009, TaylorMade and Adidas Golf (TMAG) sales topped the $1 billion mark, the first ever golf company to top a billion in sales. I’d say Gary Adams’ ideas worked.
Today, TaylorMade is the #1 driver and the #1 iron in golf. World class PGA Tour pros, like Sergio Garcia, Justin Rose, Kenny Perry, Dustin Johnson, Retief Goosen, Mike Weir, and many more trust TaylorMade clubs and golf balls. The TaylorMade Burner Superfast Driver is exceptionally long with its incredibly light weight(only 283 grams total) and aerodynamic head you’ll be sure to pound the ball football fields down the fairway. The TaylorMade R9 SuperTri driver is the first ever driver to combine FCT(Face Control Technology) and MWT(Moveable Weight Technology), allowing you to change the face angle and alter the center of gravity on the same club. TaylorMade irons are also now the #1 iron in golf, with the TaylorMade Burner irons, and R9 irons setting the pace for the best irons in the game. Also, the TaylorMade golf balls are now at the tops in golf technology. The TaylorMade Penta TP golf balls are the first-5 layer Tour golf ball. Each layer is designed to delivery optimum performance in 5 key areas: feel, spin, control, launch, and distance. Five layers, zero compromise. It’s pretty plain to see that TaylorMade owns the tee box, and so should you.
